Food & culture
Oaxaca is widely called the culinary heart of Mexico, and it earns it.
The seven moles are the headline, but the everyday eating is just as good: tlayudas from a street cart, hot chocolate whisked at the table, chapulines (grasshoppers) for the adventurous, and quesillo in everything. The mezcal here is the real thing — smoky, complex, and made by families who've been at it for generations.
